Actually “Tombstone” is a perfect example of a fairly decent recent movie which still nevertheless annoys me. What annoys me about it? The fact that everybody is trying to be so ing cool full time. Basically, they’re trying too hard. But nobody in Tombstone was as cool as Kirk Douglas’ dimple when he has that eater grin in the Chinese bathhouse. (I’ve never liked Kurt Russel in westerns, either; he’s much better in sci-fi or comedies.)

It’s amazing how a “mediocre” movie from 1968 is considerably more fun than any western Hollywood has made in the last thirty years (including “Unforgiven”).
