EARLY IN 2008, I BOUGHT A LOVELY 1953 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER STATION WAGON THAT THE DEALER SAID WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION AS IT HAD SPENT ALMOST ALL ITS LIFE IN A MUSEUM. WWHEN IT ARRIVED IN THE UK, I DISCOVERED THAT THOUGH THE CAR WAS IN GREAT SHAPE, IT HAD BEEN REASSEMBLED ONLY HAND TIGHT WITH EVEN THE STEERING BOX SLIDING AROUND. THE NEW WIRING LOOM WAS NOT CONNECTED TO MOST ENDS AND THE CENTRE TIE ROD HAD BEEN REPLACED WITH A SCRAP ONE WHICH HAD TO BE REMANUFACTURED. NOW ITR IS NEARING COMPLETION AND IT IS HOPED TO BE ON THE ROAD SOON

Although the people at Nissan (what became of Datsun) won’t admit it, this car is responsible for the 4WD Nissan Skyline GT-R
The AMC Eagle was a 4WD Car, so technically a crossover SUV, and predates Subaru’s AWD Cars by over 10 years/ The SX/4 also predates the Suzuki SX4 by over 25 Years.

July 13, 2008 - FredC took a series of snapshots as the car was removed from the historic barn in Leesburg, VA. The
pictures include views of its loading onto a Jerr Dan and off-loading into an enclosed transporter for the trip to Burkittsville, MD when restoration will take place

July 13, 2008 1927 Chrysler Beach Wagon (Series 60) removed from historic barn in Leesburg, VA. (Note-I mis-spoke during intro and said 2007 vice 2008. Oops !) Ms TecklaC describes the provenance of the auto - a one of a kind important prototype. StanleyC tells of parking cars while bellhopping at Leesburg Inn ca 1938. During WWII StanleyC was 8th USAAF radio operator on the famous Five Grand … the 5,000th B-17 Flying Fortress built by Boeing. After loading the artifact was transported to Burkittsville, MD for restoration.
