EARLY IN 2008, I BOUGHT A LOVELY 1953 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER STATION WAGON THAT THE DEALER SAID WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION AS IT HAD SPENT ALMOST ALL ITS LIFE IN A MUSEUM. WWHEN IT ARRIVED IN THE UK, I DISCOVERED THAT THOUGH THE CAR WAS IN GREAT SHAPE, IT HAD BEEN REASSEMBLED ONLY HAND TIGHT WITH EVEN THE STEERING BOX SLIDING AROUND. THE NEW WIRING LOOM WAS NOT CONNECTED TO MOST ENDS AND THE CENTRE TIE ROD HAD BEEN REPLACED WITH A SCRAP ONE WHICH HAD TO BE REMANUFACTURED. NOW ITR IS NEARING COMPLETION AND IT IS HOPED TO BE ON THE ROAD SOON

All origional 1971 woody with standard 1.1 litre engine, i think, despite “morris 1000″ badges and V8 sounding exhaust! Rear wheel drive. Always starts on the button, very reliable. Great fun to drive. Please rate and ask any questions.

The Keykeeper and I set out to see if this piece of junk would start. It did, and we may have proven that there is no such thing as too much starting fluid. Unfortunately, we also found quite the fuel leak.

I don’t want to here anything about hippocrism or anything like that the speed limit is 65 although it was 70 b/c it was a high way (so the road can be safty traveled at high speed (the corners are banked and the surface is perfect )) and road condition where good and most importan I WAS THE ONLY ONE AROUND WHEN TRAVILING AT HIGH SPEED S(110mph) the BMW was about 70 feet INFRONT of mee NO one behind me NO one beside me and when i got with in 40 feet of the BMW I i slowed down to 70~ and when other cars where around / intersection speeds where 45-stop
ALSO I HAVE STUDIED vehicle dynamics
but still that was not right plus the guy in the bmw 325i turned at the light STILL NOT using his BLINKER!

This is the build process of the one car Ford’s Lincoln division NEVER built - the unknown station wagon conversion of the suicide doored 1965 Lincoln Continental convertible land yacht.

Not just that, but I was highly impressed with the ’sunroof’ in the kit - that looks to outvista the Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser!

Building this car was interesting, as apart from the boxart depicting a wagon, I had never seen a Continental with a wagon conversion in pictures before (not even on the Internet) - actually, where I am there are hardly any Lincolns at all! This car was built and painted to resemble a luxury wagon and decor from the mid-1960s - hence the weird red-gold-green interior and wood trimmed, vinyl roof Brunswick Green exterior. Due to having plenty of options within the kit, the car sports a few pre-millennium features, notably telephones (cellphone technology didn’t exist in 1965!) and (cd stackers or mp3 players didn’t exist either) a trunk mounted reel-to-reel tape player! Actually, come to think about it, it has kind of a National Lampoon Wagon Queen Family Truckster look about it!!!

Shown also at the end - it took a few months from start to finish with this car! - are a collage of other Americans from the mid-60s, a Buick Riviera, Chevrolet Chevy II Nova, Ford Mustang, Ford Fairlane and a modified beyond recognition Plymouth Barracuda!
