OLDSMOBILE V8 POWERED STATION WAGON TRIBUTE — FIESTA VISTA CRUISER CUTLASS CUSTOM CRUISER

OLDSMOBILE STATION WAGON TRIBUTE. NOT ALL OLDS WAGONS ARE REPRESENTED DUE TO THE LACK OF AVAILABILITY OF SOME YEARS AND MODELS. OTHERS OMMISIONS STEM FROM THE LACK OF OLDSMOBILE POWERED ENGINES. 61-62 F-85 USED A BUICK 215 V-8, MANY 78-82 CUTLASS CRUISERS USED A STANDARD 260 OLDS V8 BUT THE 305 CHEVY V8 WAS OPTIONAL, AND THE 91-92 CUSTOM CRUISERS ARE CHEVY POWERED COOKIE CUTTER BUICK ROADMASTER CHEVY CAPRICES AS IF MOST 77 AND LATER GM CARS ARENT COOKIE CUTTER CLONES ENOUGH. I WANTED THE CLOSING SHOT TO BE THE 1990 CUSTOM CRUISER. LAST OLDS V-8, LAST CARBUERATED GM ENGINE. THE OLDS V8 HAD COME FULL CIRCLE FROM THE FIRST OVERHEAD VALVE V8 IN 1949 WITH 303 CUBIC INCHES AND 135 HP TO THE LAST CARBUERATED GM
V8 WITH 307 CUBIC INCHES AND 140 HP.

    I used that …
I used that drivetrain for a ’84 Holiday 88 project that I built in 1998. I sold that car in 2005. The drivetrain in my car I have now was from a badly rusted ’77 Delta I bought in 1999.

    Is that where you …
Is that where you got the 403 engine you have in your Delta 88?

    Great vid on the …
Great vid on the wagons. Had a ’64 Dynamic 88 three seat wagon in ’72 when I was 19. I put 12k miles on it in six weeks while laid off for change over from Oldsmobile. A lot of back roads and two tracks with my friends riding on the roof rack and tail gate. The 394 and slim jim made for a very unique feel. Had a ’78 403 Custom Cruiser back in ’94-’95. Had to make it a donor car after the frame broke.

The 215 V8 in the 61-63 Olds had different heads than the Buick engine. So with all the different other components due to the heads, I have no problem including the wagons.

Nice Video, I have a 64 VC in a back corner of my barn with 66 Toro engine in it, May have to get her going this summer! Does anyone know the name of the movie that a guy was street racing with a white 1960 Olds wagon? I would really like to find it, saw it 25 years ago and can”t remember the name of it.

Good job, my personal faves are the 57 & 60 Super 88 Fiesta. Great car, sorely missed.

    I really wanted to …
I really wanted to put some 78-82 rear drive Cutlass Cruisers in but I really struggled with those because of the possible 305 Chevy engine offered in them although many had the 260 Olds V8. I have a soft spot for the 78-82′s but I cant handle the Ciera wagons. I thought the 77-90 Custom Cruisers embodied pure Olds pretty well. Like the 91-2 Custom Cruisers but have a problem with Chevy powered Oldsmobiles. Also left out the 61-62 F85 wagons because of the Buick 215 v8 .

  13. vistacruiser67 says:

    73-77 Vista and …
73-77 Vista and Cutlass Cruisers are harder to find and the Custom Cruisers are even harder to find. I happened upon that 74 Cutlass Cruiser at 8:20. Missed a few years here and there mostly because the scarcity of those pics. Thanks for watching.

    They are still the …
They are still the last RWD oldsmobile ever to be made!

The 92 has the unique body not found on any other 91-6 B-body wagon as well.

Chevy side windows and Vista glass, 91 old’s and 91-6 Buick Roadmaster wagons had the differnt side windows.

I ran out of room …
I ran out of room above – anyway, a nice collection of Olds wagons, and a great job as usual!

Personally, I would have run it all the way to the last of the Ciera-based Cutlass Cruisers.

The Creek place is outside of the little town of , about 3 miles SW of Pinckney, MI.

I’m on my third ’69 Vista Cruiser since 1982, but it’s still in my mom’s garage near Hershey, PA awaiting restoration.

    As the “Moderator …
As the “Moderator East” of the GM Skywagon Club, I also have to post about the lack of the last of the Olds skywagons, even though they were Chevy-powered.

I see a lot of footage of the Oldsmobile Homecoming show, too! Now go to ! ;-)

I’m referring to the Creek Ranch campground 50 miles from Lansing, home of the “Vista Cruise to and Back”, which we use as a base camp for Homecoming and other car shows.

The old man at 4:42 (great time) wants $20K for that ’65 Vista!

    Great compilation. …
Great compilation. Our family had a ’69 Vista Cruiser, a ’74 Custom Cruiser (not seen here), and a ’77 Vista Cruiser. And friends of the family had a ’66 Vista Cruiser and a couple of ’70 Vista Cruisers. Would like to have seen the complete sequence of 70s Vista Cruisers and Custom Cruisers, but I’m sure those can be hard to find.

  18. OLDS98 says:

    Yeah… I knew that …
Yeah… I knew that. They then offered the 5.7 liter in the Brougham as an option in 1990-1991. It had written on the engine” Built For Cadillac By General Motors” They still in the end did Oldsmobile wrong. It should still be here. They had used that 5.0 liter 307 for years…

  19. vistacruiser67 says:

    They say the 307 …
They say the 307 wasnt needed anymore. It was GMs last carbuerated engine and kept passing emissions test with Quadrajet carbs until the bitter end. 86-90 rear wheel drive 5.0 liter Cadillacs are 307 Olds powered. Even the Caprice wagons listed the 307 Olds engine from 86-90.

  20. OLDS98 says:

    Sad day indeed…I …
Sad day indeed…I now know why you did not use the 1991-1992 Olds Custom Crusier. It did not have an Olds V8, too many parts were shared with other GM cars. I still like that 1990.

  21. vistacruiser67 says:

    Yeah that last one …
Yeah that last one is the 1990 with the last Olds V8.

  22. vistacruiser67 says:

    Yeah I was looking …
Yeah I was looking for 59 but never could find an impressive one.

  23. vistacruiser67 says:

    I remember them. …
I remember them. 91-2 are Chevy powered. I didnt mind the body style but 90 was the last year for the 307 Olds. I guess Im just a purist.

  24. ghtowagon says:

    No 91-2 Custom …
    No 91-2 Custom Cruisers?

    Nice tribute to …
Nice tribute to American wagons. Any one from the 60′s or 70′s probably rode in one of these, they were workhorse’s i remember my father hauling everthing in our station wagons. Loved the trips to the city dump the most!

    Also love the Sones music.
