Where can I find the specs for a 1977 F 60 engine out of a station wagon?

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

My mechanic told me that I had a 1977 F 60 engine out of a station wagon. I tried looking it up but didn’t know where to start. The engine is in my 71 Ford Torino. Could someone tell me where to look that up online or any suggestions on a better engine?

The F60 is a 351 out of a truck not a station wagon.

What’s a good inexpensive wagon for newborn twins and a 6′3" driver?

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

Expecting newborn twins soon and need to purchase / lease a new vehicle. We’d like the car to be under $28,000. We’re not fans of SUVs or Minivans and would prefer a wagon. Another problem is that the driver is 6′3" tall so a rear-facing carseat has to fit behind him. Any suggestions?

When we started planning on having a family I bought a Toyota Matrix and thought it would be great. I hated minivans and suvs. But once we found out I was having twins, that all changed. My husband is 6′4" and there was no way a carseat was going to fit behind him. We broke down and bought minivan and it’s the best thing we did. It’s so easy to get them in and out. Plus the trunk space is perfect for a double stroller. And the back seat folds down for extra room for "stuff". Trust me, you’ll have a lot! However, I have recently seen the Ford Edge and they might be roomy enough but I wouldn’t trade my van in for anything now. I’m really not sure if anything other than our van would be big enough for us! Good luck and congrats on the twins!

How do you fix a Loose shifter on a Manual Subaru legacy wagon yr 96?

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

I have a 1996 Manual Subaru Legacy Wagon my Shifter is extremely loose and i need to fix it. Not only is it hard to shift but i am learning Standard and it very hard with a loose shifter. Any help would be Greatly appreciated.
My shifter is loose as in there is a lot of play when its in gear as if its in neutral.

What do you mean by "loose"? That there’s a lot of slop in the action and it sometimes grinds or sticks when changing gears? You could need a clutch adjustment, or you might have worn or damaged synchronization rings in your shift mechanism, which I think is very likely.

How well do the back seats in a ford taurus wagon fold down? Could I sleep in it?

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

I am going on a coast to coast drive, while I will typically stay in a campground or hotel I want the option to pull over into a truck stopp or 24 hr walmart and catch a short night of sleep. I am wondering if the seats in the ford taurus wagon fold flat enough to sleep in the back with a sleeping bag? Any ideas on the dimensions length wise? Thanks!
Also it is a 2000 model.

Yes, they fold flat down to the seat, you will have enough room to stretch your leg out . My wife, son & I take a trip a few years ago in our old ford wagon ,they both got in the rear of the wagon and slept a few hours before we got home ,they had plenty of room to rest. By having the wagon save use some money as well.

How can I tell what sound system my 2004 Mazda 6 Sport Wagon has?

Monday, December 28th, 2009

I am trying to figure out if my 2004 Mazda 6 Sport Wagon has the standard system or the premium Bose upgrade. Do the head units look different? Is there an amplifier mounted somewhere with the Bose system that isn’t installed with the standard one? Can I look up the VIN or something? Thanks!

generally you can just use what model and trim package you have and look that up on the dealers website, that should give you all the specifics of your car…..also, not to sound rude, but have you looked at your owners manual? It also is a plethora of knowledge about what is/isn’t in your car.

What distance does the Wagon travel in this time?

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

A poorly tuned Wagon R can accelerate from rest to a speed of 28 m/s in 20s.
What distance does the wagon travel in this time?
How do I figure it out.

Acceleration of the wagon
= a
= (v-u).t
where v is the final speed of the wagon = 28m/s
u is the initial speed of the wagon = 0m/s
t is the time taken to accelerate from rest to 28m/s = 20s
= (28-0)/20
= 1.4

Distance that the wagon travels in this time
= S
= ut+0.5at^2
where u is the initial speed of the wagon=0m/s
t is the time taken to accelerate = 20s
a is the acceleration of the wagon = 1.4ms^(-2)
= 0*20+0.5*(1.4)*(20)^2
= 280

So, the wagon travels a distance of 280m in this time.
