Any AUSSIE parents drive an 05/06 Commodore Wagon OR Ford Falcon Wagon with 3 kids?

Friday, January 29th, 2010

just wanting to see if anyone on here might have a Commodore Wagon with 3 car seats or boosters and how well they fit along the back seat? Does anyone have the wagon with the third row/7seats?

Any comments about the pro’s or con’s about this car in terms of carting kids around with the car seats. Is it squishy to do up the seatbelts? Is there room enough for kids to do it easily? Is there still enough space with the third row seats? Any and all comments appreciated.

We are looking at getting an 05/06 commodore wagon preferrably but have heard the falcon is roomier (we have a 97 falcon wagon now, time for an upgrade!) but have 1 infant car seat (soon to be a wider booster seat), 1 booster seat and 1 block booster seat to accomodate (but not for too much longer).

thanks for any comments guys

My brother in law had a commodore wagon and FIVE kids (hence why it’s now HAD!). Three of the fancy booster seats (the ones that look like racing car seats) fit across the back not a problem.
These cars were designed for families, that means they were designed to take into account that there would occasionally be families needing to fit three car seats in!
One of our family friends has an 05 falcon sedan, he has two kids in boosters and I can fit comfortably in the backseat with the boosters in there. To give you an idea I currently wear a size 18, so I need about the same room as a large booster seat needs in order to be comfortable.

We don’t own either as we need a vehicle with off-road capability, we plan to upgrade to one of those Great Wall 4wd wagons next year.

What do you owners of 2006 Subaru 2.5i Outback Wagons like most and least about your cars?

1. I like the fact that it gets driven a LOT and has 136,000 miles on it.
2. i like that It has only had one problem : a leaking crankshaft seal on the engine (fixed for $400)
3. It can drive thru LOTS of mud and lots of snow and ice, no problem
4. I like that it has high ground clearance
5. I like the safe feeling i get when i drive it
6.i like that its a Top safety pick by the IIHS
7. I like that it gets 31.8 on highway trips ( even though the EPA says it should only get 28mpg)
8. I like how easy it is to maintain it ( i do the maintanence myself)
9.I like that you can fit TONS of crap in the back
10. I like that cool fuel economy display
11. I like pretty much everything about the car.

Most of all i like the perfect combination of durability and comfort the car brings, while being able to drive where no wagon should ever go, and get the fuel economy of smaller front wheel drive cars.

Also, my front brakes lasted until 93,000 miles… still have the original back brakes.

IF there was anything i would wish for on the car, it would be for a little more power, but its not a big deal, the power is adequate the way it is.

When did SUBARU Start their SYMMETRICAL AWD?

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

What year did Subaru start making all their cars with their Symmetrical All Wheel Drive system?
What years did they make improvements?

And also I was wanting to get the Outback or Legacy Wagon, but would the Sedan version be better in wheel traction because of the body weight distribution is more even?

Any suggestions for the best Subaru Sedan or Wagon? I mainly want one for the rain, ice, and snow.
Is the impreza real small inside?
Which have the Boxer engine?

-I read that Subaru started the Symmetrical AWD on all their vehicles in 1997, but I want to be sure.
Hear is the link I read http://www.subaru.com/drive/awd.html

www.cars101.com is a gold mine of Subaru information.

They switched over to exclusively-AWD in 1997.

Improvements? What do you mean by that?

Outback is higher than the Legacy Wagon, thus a slightly higher centre-of-gravity and slightly sloppier handling. When comparing the Legacy sedan to the Legacy wagon, weight distribution is inconsequential, since their weights are almost identical.

Best Subaru sedan and wagon would have to go to the 2005-06 Legacy. It is by far the best-looking Legacy to date. Considering its standard equipment-price ratio, it cannot be surpassed.

Yes, the Impreza is small on the inside; it is a compact car. However, I find the cargo capacity to be quite good on the more recent Imprezas.

And of course, all Subarus have the Boxer engine.

This question is really a matter of preference, but I would personally go with black leather. You cant go wrong.

How do you fix a Loose shifter on a Manual Subaru legacy wagon yr 96?

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

I have a 1996 Manual Subaru Legacy Wagon my Shifter is extremely loose and i need to fix it. Not only is it hard to shift but i am learning Standard and it very hard with a loose shifter. Any help would be Greatly appreciated.
My shifter is loose as in there is a lot of play when its in gear as if its in neutral.

What do you mean by "loose"? That there’s a lot of slop in the action and it sometimes grinds or sticks when changing gears? You could need a clutch adjustment, or you might have worn or damaged synchronization rings in your shift mechanism, which I think is very likely.

Full Size Wagon Rental in Germany?

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

My family will be vacationing in Germany for three weeks this summer and I need to rent a vehicle for 3 adults and 2 kids and about 3 large suitcases. Will a "full size" wagon do the job? It looks like the European wagons have a lot less storage room, but the rental sites advertise 5 passenger and 4 large suitcases for some, i.e. the BMW 320 Touring.

Can anyone who’s actually driven some of these cars give me some advice? The adults are all tall, and the kids are 8 and 10 years old.

A BMW 320 is a smallish wagon, not much boot space.
If you want to get around comfortably, look at 9 seater minivans like this:
http://www.starcar.de/autoflotte.php?gruppe=13&kategorie=1
or a 7 seater:

In practically all 7 seater models you can fold down the last two seats to get a big boot.

My first day of college is Thu. Sept 6th..any advice?

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Hi all!So my first day of college is this thursday and I just wanted to ask for advice/pointers, what should I bring with me(pen, folder?etc),what to expect etc. I graduated high school in 2006 but took the past year "off" so am back on the wagon :o)

Also, is college anything like high school? I want to be more outgoing and make friends because although I did have friends in HS, most were more like acquaintances than anything sooo..any advice on that too would be great! Thanks in advance. :o)
Thanks for all your answers so far, very helpful, oh and I will be in community college my first two years :o)

Living at home still.

Congratulations on continuing your education. Bring paper and writing tool and your books. The bookstore can tell you what books to get by looking at your schedule.

College is really nothing like high school, your are paying for the privilege of being there so if you mess up, you will suffer the consequences. There is little competition in college so all that HS stuff is gone. Most people are very mature there. You will meet many different people and you can be anyone you want to be. Join some of the organizations on campus that you find interesting and speak to as many people in class as you can. You will certainly find someone you have things in common with. Since everyone is at college voluntarily, people are more serious about what they are doing (unless pressured by parents). For instance, there is rarely a dress code, but people for the most part will dress appropriately. This would not be the case in high school! There is no punishment in college for things such as talking in class, but this does not happen often. I think you will like it–You get what you put into it.

Attend every class, bring paper and pencil with you, keep a calendar of important dates, take notes, sit near the front, ask the instructor if in doubt about anything, discuss the work with classmates, do any homework (even if not graded), study for tests, listen, and always always do any extra credit if it is offered!

Broken Ear !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Today i was playing around with this radio flyer wagon and the big handle attached to the wagon hit me on my ear. It has been a few hours now and my ear still hurts really bad. Is it possible for bones to break in your ear ?

There are no bones in your ear. Only cartilidge. And its possible to damage it. No way to know for sure unless you get an Xray.

Does anyone know if Cricut has a cartridge with a little red wagon on it?

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

First off…if they do have one, it would be red because that is the color of paper you are using. Or you could make it blue, green or white with polka dots. There are inks you can buy for the cricut but they only outline the item the machine is cutting out. It does not ink the whole cut out.

I have 14 cricut cartridges and there is no wagon on any of them. I can list them if you want so you’ll know which ones DON’T have the wagon but I think your best bet would be to call cricut and ask them. Or call a craft store that sells them and ask them. I don’t know how many cartridges cricut has out but I know at my local scrapbooking store they have probably 50 different ones displayed for sale.
